INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY SESSION
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE RECOMMENDED?
It is possible to benefit from just one session, depending on your goals and your situation. During the session, you will also learn about activities you can continue at home on your own. However, the ideal scenario would be to come for at least four sessions, that way there is a chance to build on the work done previously in the initial sessions. For some people the ideal model is six to ten sessions, for others it is to continue over many months. Whatever is best for you can be done.
WHAT IS MY THERAPEUTIC APPROACH?
I work from a trauma-informed perspective. My therapeutic approach is person-centred and strength-based, and grounded in mindfulness practices. Having taught yoga for 8 years allows me to integrate these practices into my therapeutic work as a way to support individuals by bringing awareness to their mind-body connection, and to help them build healthy and effective coping skills.
IS PSYCHOTHERAPY COVERED BY OHIP OR INSURANCE?
Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP. However, many extended health care benefits do provide coverage for psychotherapy. Your insurance provider can help you determine the coverage with your plan.
