Erika is trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches including Trauma Integration Clinician, mindfulness & compassion-based approaches, art therapy/expressive arts therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), parts work, narrative therapy, EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), somatic therapies, and body-oriented/ trauma processing techniques to heal trauma-related issues to support youth ( ages 12+), teens & adults facing a variety of concerns.
Erika uses Somatic Psychotherapy in her practice. When words are not enough to help a client heal, a somatic approach to trauma treatment can be effective. Traditional psychotherapy focuses on the cognitive or emotional aspects of the individual, but such an approach is limited. Somatic psychotherapy joins cognitive and somatic techniques. This is important in treatment as trauma itself can have an overwhelming effect on the body and can manifest as somatic symptoms.
Erika has helped support adults and adolescents with various matters, such as anxiety, trauma, substance use & addiction, depression, self-esteem & self-worth, anger management, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and chronic pain.
